Video games fanatics will be able to dial up an electronic library and have the latest releases sent directly to their television set down the telephone line under plans being developed by British Telecommunications Plc, the Daily Telegraph reported: players will no longer need to buy games consoles that plug into television sets, and instead will rely on the processor in the set-top television controller box to run the games; it has joined the European Leisure Software Publishers Association, which represents more than 60 electronic games companies, and says it is already in discussions with companies that write games software and hopes to start building up its own electronic games portfolio soon; the move would not make Sega Enterprises Ltd and Nintendo Co very happy because they make most of their money on the games consoles – but they would be unlikely to allow their top-selling games to be used.
