GAMES COMPANY THQ ACQUIRES GAMEFX FOR ITS GRAPHICS

Games company THQ Inc, based in Calabasas, California, has agreed to acquire GameFX Inc for its proprietary 3D acceleration technology. THQ will pay for the company with 250,00 shares of its comon stock and $600,000 in cash. GameFX, from Arlington, Virginia, is in the process of developing PC graphics technology which will be used first in games THQ plans to publish late this year or early next. It promises 3D graphics rendered in real- time, and will also use the technology in high-end games consoles. C Noah Davis, GameFX’s president, will become chief technology officer of THQ. Davis is on the technical advisory board of 3Dfx Interactive Inc, which is an investor in the company, and also serves as an advisor to Intel Corp on 3D technology and interactive entertainment. á
