Gumpei Yokoi, the man who created a massive worldwide industry when he developed Nintendo Co’s Gameboy machine in 1989, has died at the age of 56 after a traffic accident. When he joined the company in 1965, it was only a manufacturer of playing cards. But he quickly moved the company on by designing his own toys and then led the team which created Gameboy. The machine was an instant hit amongst children throughout the world and more than 300 games have so far been written for it.
