FURUKAWA BANKROLLS NETWORK PERIPHERALS TO DO ASYNCHRONOUS MODE FOR WORKGROUPS

Network Peripherals Inc, Milpitas, California has entered an agreement with Furukawa Electric Co Ltd of Japan to develop Asynchronous Transfer Mode switching products for workgroup networks. In return for the rights to market the products in Japan, Furukawa will fund part of the development costs stand-alone Asynchronous Mode switches and Ethernet-to-Asynchronous Mode switching hubs. Products will ship in mid-1996.
