FUJITSU/SYARIKAT TELECOM CONTRACT INCLUDES TWO M780-10S MAINFRAMES

That monster mainframe Fujitsu Ltd contract with Syarikat Telecom Malaysia (CI No 998) turns out to include two M780-10S mainframes as well as the M-780-10R, and the machines will be used in Malaysia Telecom’s customer service system, which will include issuance of phone bills and is due to be operational by October: Fujitsu’s distributor in Malaysia, Talasco Computers, will handle both hardware and software support; Fujitsu ranks third after IBM and Unisys in the Malaysian market, and its base there comprises eight other mainframes, and three K-series office computer systems, while in the telecommunications arena, it is also installing a microwave communications system, as well as terminators for fibre optic communications nets.
