Fujitsu is due to launch a new Unixserver with a maximum configuration of 64 processors at a press conference today and a prototype will be on display at the Fujitsu Solution Fair ’99 in Tokyo which starts on Wednesday. The new server uses the SPARC64-GP RISC processor, developed by Fujitsu’s US affiliate, HAL Computer Systems Inc. It will use a 64-bit version of the Solaris operating system. At today’s press conference Fujitsu is also expected to unveil its development policy focusing on Unix servers for large-scale systems. It is already working on a Unix 128-processor server for release by the end of next year.
