FUJITSU TO IMPORT SOFTWARE DEVELOPED IN AUSTRALIA

Fujitsu Ltd is embarking on a major programme to import appropriate software developed for machines sold by its Fujitsu Australia subsidiary, which with Fujitsu Espana are its only two full-line computer units in developed countries and was founded as long ago as 1972 in Sydney: in the first one to two years, it plans to import two or three application packages developed by third party Australian software houses for the Facom M-series of IBM-compatible mainframes, and to add the Japanese processing functions required by local users; Fujitsu’s installed base in Australia totals 250 M-series machines – approximately 18% of mainframe market, and sales for this fiscal of some $600m.
