Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based Rapidigm provides application development and integration services around SAP, Oracle and PeopleSoft applications. It has some 1,200 employees in the US and a further 800 at two Indian development centers in Pune and New Delhi providing low-cost support services. Fujitsu Consulting wouldn’t disclose revenue figures for Rapadigm, but said it was one of the five largest privately held IT services companies in the US.

Fujitsu Consulting, is Tokyo, Japan-based Fujitsu’s North American consulting arm, and was created in 2002 by the merger of DMR Consulting, Fujitsu Systems Business of America, Fujitsu Systems Europe, and other business units from the Fujitsu group.

Fujitsu Consulting is the most acquisitive operation within Fujitsu’s IT services group, with the Rapidigm deal representing its fifth takeover in 15 months. During this time, it has bought Greenbrier & Russel of Chicago, Montreal-based GIM Risk Management, Minneapolis-based BORN Information Services, and Dallas-based Cendera Technologies – all for undisclosed sums.

The purchase of Rapidigm will give Fujitsu Consulting an army of more than 4,900 consultants based in North America alone. The transaction is expected to close within 45 days, subject to various closing conditions and regulatory clearance. Fujitsu said that Rapidigm’s senior leadership team will remain with Fujitsu Consulting in executive-level positions.
