Fujitsu Ltd is to invest $1.3bn in a new state-of-the-art chip plant in Aizu-Wakamatsu, Northern Japan. The company’s announcement appears to be following a drive by Japanese electronic companies to increase their semiconductor business, says the Financial Times. But it comes just over a month after Fujitsu announced a 17% drop in sales of chips (CI No 3,170).
