Fujitsu Ltd’s Open Systems Sales Promotion Division has begun the promotion and sale of four third party products from database and open system product vendors. The products are relational database systems Oracle and Informix, the proprietary Uniface language from Takt Systems, and data access language SequeLink from Gnosis NV of Belgium. With respect to Oracle and Informix, Fujitsu will directly provide Japan-wide support to customers of these products. In the case of SequeLink, other companies including Canon are already selling the software in the Japanese market, but Fujitsu is the first computer manufacturer to do, and it expects it to be a valuable product in the development of client-server systems. Fujitsu has also announced a number of middleware products which it put on sale from June 1. The software falls into the categories of transaction processing tools – TP series, Meft series and RDB III, software engineering tools and development environments including Softbench and PowerFrameView, databases, such as the object-oriented database ODB II and the software tool IntelligentPad, and systems operation management and office automation products.
