Fujitsu Ltd has released a new version of its Facom 2360 text-to speech synthesis unit, which can express approximately 4,000 words, about 16 times as many as the previous version: designed for connection via GP-IB interface to the company’s FMR series personal computers and G-series workstations, the $3,200 system can use sounds pre-recorded on the 20Mb hard disk, or pronounce words or sentences that are input in Kana characters.
