Fujitsu Ltd has come out with a new version of its dedicated word processor, the Oasys30-LG101, which now has an icon-driven interface, with a reduced number of function keys, and provides three different levels of assistance – which Fujitsu calls Grow-Up Guidance – to assist both beginner and experienced users. The laptop unit incorporates a thermal printer, fonts are provided on a ROM card, and the thing weighs 15 lbs, making it luggable rather than portable. The machine sells for $1,450 and Fujitsu expects to sell the things at a rate of 15,000 units a month.
