The company claimed that the drive, equipped with two 160GB platters, can deliver transfer speeds of up to 300MB per second and provides a read/write power-consumption rate of 1.9 watts. The power consumption when the hard drive is idle is 1.06 watts while the standby power usage is 0.13 watts.
Fujitsu’s rival, Toshiba launched its 320 GB hard drive in August 2007 after Fujitsu unveiled its 300 GB hard disk in July 2007. In October 2007, Western Digital also announced its 320 GB Scorpio 2.-inch notebook drive.
In its half year period ending September 2007, Fujitsu declared an operating loss of 13.2% at $404.2, due to the lower hard disk drive prices.
