FUJITSU INCREASES EXPORT OF TELEPHONE EXCHANGES TO CHINA

Fujitsu Ltd is aggressively increasing exports of telephone exchange digital switching equipment to the People’s Republic of China, where it is reckoned to have taken the number one spot ahead of its main international competitors Ericsson and NEC: the seventh Five Year Plan emphasises communications, and Fujitsu is in there pitching with its Fetex-150 exchanges, 85 of which have so far been installed in 41 cities for a total of 540,000; its target is 1m lines within two years and it is stressing that its exchanges will be able to have ISDN capability retrofitted.
