Fujitsu ICL Computers Ltd is restructuring its European organization as part of moves to integrate worldwide research and development efforts and improve its relationships with channel partners. The company is currently divided into three separate product divisions each with individual responsibility for research and development and manufacturing: the Professional PC arm based in Finland, the Consumer PC division located in Eastern Germany, and the UK-based Server division. Fujitsu says the new changes will result in a single research and development organization and integrated manufacturing operations for all product lines. It’s also putting more resources into local country sales and support organizations. Fujitsu stressed that the new organizational model, to be implemented over the next three months, is not related to the recent acquisition of Amdahl Corp, and says that no job losses are planned.
