Fujitsu Ltd says that the two breakthroughs it has made in the design of 64M-bit memory chips for 1993 fabrication are achieving a large capacitance within such tiny circuits – chips of 100 square millimetres, solved by laying the storage electrodes hori zontally; and designing a new architecture in which the bit lines are formed before the capacitors.
