By CBR Staff Writer

Fujitsu Ltd has trumped IBM, 4.5M-bytes-per-second and Hitachi, 6Mbps with a fibre optic channel that runs at 9Mbytes-per-second for its top-end M780 mainframes, at $10,850 a month, and a 2mS access time solid state bid disk alternative, the F6631, which costs from $5,400 a month. Fujitsu also has a new model at the bottom end of its top-end M-780 mainframe series: the Model 10R, reportedly rated at only 12 MIPS, is said to improve transaction throughput 20%, and is specifically for on-line financial users.
