FUJITSU FIP LAUNCHES NEW SERVICE CALLED ATLAS MAIL

By CBR Staff Writer

Fujitsu Ltd-affiliated software house and value-added network services provider Fujitsu FIP is to diversify its services with the launch of a complete natural language translation service called Atlas Mail – Atlas is Fujitsu’s automatic translation service – which combines automatic translation with the use of specialised translators at associated companies who scan the machine text and tidy it up before sending it over the wires to the customer; the work, even after it has been scanned, restructured and passed by a specialist, at $22 a page is said to be half the price of a translation entirely manually, and the turn-round time is reduced to four days from 11 days for Japanese-into-English work.
