Fujitsu Telecommunications Europe Ltd on Friday announced a #7.36m expansion to its Northern Ireland operations. It aims to double projected employment at its location in Springvale Business Park, West Belfast to 200 by the end of next year. The company, with 45 people now, began making switching equipment there last August but will move to a new and larger plant. The Northern Ireland Industrial Developent Board is giving 2.95m British pounds of aid to the new project. The additional investment brings to more than 14m pounds Fujitsu’s total investment in Northern Ireland since 1992 – it also has a telecommunications equipment repair plant at Antrim Technology Park, 25 miles north of Belfast.
