Fujitsu Ehime Information Systems, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujitsu Ltd, has produced a low-cost CAD program called Esper, for design of buildings, power stations and waterworks: offered as a turnkey system it costs $40,000 with 16-bit personal computer, colour display, XY plotter, graphics tablet, and Japanese language printer; the system is claimed to match the performance of a minicomputer-based system costing nearer $65,000.
