Eight-bit computers are still very much alive not only here at Apt Data Services but also in Japan, where Fujitsu Ltd has brought out a high-end model of its FM77AV series of person-al computers, which is still popular with Japanese hobbyists: the new FM77AV40SX comes standard with a video feature that displays a television or video image on the screen in 260,000 colours and can superimpose computer-generated images on those from a video cassette player; based on two 2MHz Motorola 68B09E microprocessors, it is packaged in a unique marbled housing, has the MIDI Musical Instrument Digital Interface for playing computer-generated melodies, and starts at $1,400 with 192Kb and two 3.5 floppies.
