FUJITSU BEGINS MARKETING THE FACOM 2838A

Fujitsu Ltd has begun marketing the Facom 2838A intercomputer communications unit, which can link mainframes to each other or to supercomputers and runs at a speed of 6.3Mbps; it can also switch signals between up to four high-speed digital units and a F9170A local area network linking unit can transmit data at 6.3Mbps without an external amplifier being required; Fujitsu expects to install 250 F2838s and 1,000 F9170As over the next three years.
