Fujitsu Ltd and Philips Components-Signetics have signed a second source agreement covering Ethernet chip sets: the two will also collaborate on the devlopment of advanced Ethernet controllers and other networking protocols and products: Signetics gets rights to Fujitsu’s EtherStar MB86950 controller and MB502A Ethernet encoder-decoder and Fujitsu gets rights to Signetics’ NE8392A coaxial transceiver interface chip; the three chips are available as a set from each firm.
