As part of its overall restructuring plans outlined in August, Fujitsu has been working to strengthen its competitiveness in servers and storage system products in order to further increase its focus on core products. In accordance with these plans, production of servers and storage system products, which currently is divided among Fujitsu’s Numazu and Nagano factories and PFU’s Kasashima factory, will be consolidated under the new company at the Kasashima facility. Positioning FJIT as a central manufacturing base for the Fujitsu Group’s computer products, this move will increase efficiency as well as integrate mass production technology with supply chain management (SCM), thereby strengthening manufacturing capabilities in these core products. At the same time, product development work will be centralized within Fujitsu itself, creating a horizontally integrated structure.
