Fujitsu Ltd has wasted little time in adding Amdahl Corp’s new 5995 series of IBM plug-compatible mainframes to its product line in Japan in a further effort to wean IBM Japan’s users over to the Fujitsu camp. The rental price in Japan is from $320,500 per month for the 5995A, and from $1.3m a month for the 5995M series. Fujitsu is hoping to install 50 of the Amdahl-designed systems over three years.
