FUJITSU 0.18 MICRON LAB TO BEGIN PRODUCTION 1999

Construction of that $1.3bn memory and logic semiconductor plant Fujitsu Ltd is building in Aizu-Wakamatsu, north of Tokyo will begin within one year (CI No 3,198). RAM and logic done in 0.18 micron process design using 12 silicon wafers lines should begin to roll off production lines in fiscal 1999. It aims to produce 15,000 a month. Fujitsu already has two plants in the area, one of which built in 1967, will be phased out.
