Fujitsu launches 23.2 petaflops processing performance supercomputer

Includes SPARC64 IXfx processors that delivers high performance with low power consumption, says the company

By CBR Staff Writer

Fujitsu has launched PRIMEHPC FX10 supercomputer, which can scale upto 23.2 petaflops theoretical processing performance.

PRIMEHPC is a combination of high performance, scalability, and reliability with energy efficiency and the supercomputer improves Fujitsu’s supercomputer technology employed in the "K computer."

Fujitsu has developed all of the supercomputer’s components, delivering high levels of reliability and operability and the system can be scaled to meet customer needs, up to a 1,024 rack configuration.

By leveraging PRIMEHPC, societal challenges like new drug development, disaster prevention, disaster mitigation, and other measures can be met to bring about a safe and secure society.

The company said that through the development of supercomputers, it aims to bring about a "Human Centric Intelligent Society."

PRIMEHPC supercomputer delivers high-speed, large-scale computing environment of up to 23.2 petaflops and it includes potential configuration consisting of 98,304 nodes and 6 petabytes of memory.

The new supercomputer include a SPARC64 IXfx processors that delivers high performance with low power consumption and it features a high memory bandwidth, scalable "Tofu" interconnects with 10 links, each delivering high performance levels of 5 GB/s × 2.
