Fujitsu has released an expanded access product portfolio that enables Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF)-compliant Ethernet services to be offered across various transport networks.
Fujitsu claims Ethernet-over-Anything (EoX) technology creates a single, secure network, allowing Ethernet services to be delivered whenever they are needed.
Initially deployed on the EoX Gateway configuration of the Fujitsu FLASHWAVE 9500 Packet Optical Networking Platform (Packet ONP), Fujitsu says, the EoX offering delivers consistent Ethernet service regardless of the underlying transport technology.
The integration of EoX technology into the Fujitsu’s access network infrastructure also allows Ethernet services to be extended to locations that are out-of-reach, and meets the increasing demand for mass-market Ethernet services for end users.
Ethernet services can be deployed across SONET, wavelengths, PDH, copper, or directly over fibre using MEF-compliant service definitions.
The enhanced Fujitsu EoX access products include FLASHWAVE CDS Micro Packet ONP, a new COE cards that enable 1GbE and 10GbE Ethernet over Fiber (EoF) applications for mesh, ring or point-to-point topologies on this Micro Packet ONP platform.
FLASHWAVE 9410 Ethernet Access Platform is a new Ethernet Network Interface Device (NID) that supports GbE Ethernet over Fiber (EoF) service demarcation at the customer premises.
FLASHWAVE 9420 Ethernet Access Platform is a new NID supporting Ethernet over PDH (EoPDH) available in two versions – one supporting Ethernet over up to eight bonded DS-1s (12 Mbps service) and the other supporting Ethernet over DS3.
The FLASHWAVE 7120 Micro Packet ONP enables MEF-compliant GbE or 10GbE EPL, EVPL, ELAN and E-Tree services using Ethernet over wavelength (Eo?) through CWDM/DWDM optics.
FLASHWAVE 4100 ES Micro Packet ONP enables MEF-compliant EPL, EVPL, Access EPL and Access EVPL services using Connection-oriented Ethernet over SONET (EoS) over OC-3, OC-12 and OC-48 SONET networks including aggregation of DS1s and DS3s.
Fujitsu said its NETSMART 1500 management offering provides the common management platform for the FLASHWAVE 9500 EoX gateway and EoX access product portfolio, enabling Ethernet service provisioning, service fault management and troubleshooting, and ongoing performance monitoring of the network.
