Swedish enterprise application integration software firm Frontec AMT Inc and Integrated Systems Scandinavia AB (ISS) are to develop an application connector for QAD IncÆs MFG/PRO enterprise resource planning software. ISS will use FrontecÆs AMTrix 4.2 to develop the connector, which allows businesses to integrate MFG/PRO with other ERP and supply-chain packages. The product will then be sold on through both companiesÆ consulting services. MFG/PRO is designed for manufacturers in the automotive, industrial, electronics, and medical industries.

Frontec took advantage of the announcement to also boast of a SAP R/3 integration milestone. The company claims to have made 50 installations of its AMTrix connectors in R/3 environments in the last four months.

Frontec AMT is a subsidiary of The Frontec Group, a software and consultancy firm set up in 1981. The group now employs 900 people in the US, the UK, Singapore, China and Australia, as well as its native Sweden. Frontec AMTÆs flagship EAI product, AMTrix (or Application Messaging Technology) was developed in a joint venture with Unisys and was originally called IRIS (Integrated Retailing Information System). The company says the software is now used in over 2,700 companies worldwide. Customers include Volvo, DuPont, DHL and various Chinese ministries. Frontec is listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange and is valued at around $100m. It was recently listed in 25 Companies To Watch by Fortune Magazine.
