The move is in response to feedback from advisers wishing to have greater control and flexibility over online protection applications. Advisers can now log back into original electronic applications and edit them, submitting changes without having to re-key information from scratch. Previously, they would have had to request such updates by phone or post.

Updates to clients’ personal and payment details such as their address, bank account or payment date can now be made at any time during the life of the policy. Changes to an application such as health details, start date, sum assured and term can be made within 90 days of the start date.

Dave Mace, head of eBusiness at Friends Provident, said, This is a very positive step and will help independent financial advisers (IFAs) enhance their client relationships while at the same time saving administrative time and effort. It’s all about using technology in a simple yet effective way and putting IFAs firmly in the driving seat.
