A Labour Ministry study indicates that over 6m French professionals use a personal computer either regularly or occasionally in their work, a 38% increase on 1987’s figure: during 1991, 38% of those surveyed used a computer at least three hours per day, opposed to 30% in 1987, and the proportion that uses a computer for less than one hour per day, has fallen to 34% from 43% in 1987; 44% of government employees use a personal computer, up from 31%, as do 52% of employees in large corporations, up from 37%; bank employees score highest with 86%, while construction workers come last with only 11% claiming to be computer literate; most users are between the ages of 30 and 44.
