Free mobile service arrives in UK

News: FreedomPop brings its SIM-only MVNO to UK mobile users.

By Alexander Sword

FreedomPop has launched the first completely free mobile phone service in the UK.

The service, until now only available in the US, offers users 200 minutes, 200 texts and 200 MB of data per month at no cost.

Users can boost their data by completing third-party offers, which include taking a survey or downloading a coupon, as well as paying more for bigger plans.

UK users can roll over unused data or share it with friends and family that are also FreedomPop customers.

In addition, users are provided with a virtual international phone number that will allow people in other countries to call for free.

FreedomPop has partnered with UK carrier Three to deliver the service. The company plans to expand the free service to seven other countries within 12 months and to over 20 markets by 2017.

Stephen Stokols, FreedomPop CEO and co-Founder, said: "We believe everyone should have access to mobile services, and we’re going to make that a reality in the U.K."
