France Telecom SA won the bidding to take over a 51% stake in the Ivory Coast’s CITelcom national telephone company with its bid of $190m, the Ivorian government announced. France Telecom SA said CITelecom would invest over $500m in the coming five years to install 300,000 new lines, which would quadruple the current network. The expansion program will create 10,000 jobs in the Ivory Coast.
