France Telecom used CeBIT to premiere its video-on-demand equipment. Cinezoom, for example, is a voice-activated video-on0demand service that enables the customer to call and request a film from a computer-based video distribution centre. The video film is then automatically sent across an Asynchronous Transfer Mode link to the customer. France Telecom also focused on its recent launch in Germany of its Atlas 400 electronic messaging service. The service was launched through Info AG, the German subsidiary of Transpac SA. The service, the company says, will enable customers in Germany to interact across Europe via Transpac’s X25 service. The company also revealed that it is in the process of introducing its Virtual Private Network service into Germany. The service already exists in much of Europe and Italy, Belgium and Spain will also be on-line shortly, it added.
