France Telecom buys Ya.com

France Telecom has acquired Spanish broadband supplier Ya.com for 320m euros ($431.7m) from Deutsche Telekom but refused to comment on reports that it has also sold its interest in wireless carrier Orange Netherlands to the German incumbent for 1.3bn euros ($1.75bn).

It is known that Orange Netherlands is up for sale and the logic of the deal would be to add 1.9 million users to the 2..5 million held by Deutsche Telekom to create the second largest operator in the Dutch market behind KPN.

France Telecom said the Ya.com acquisition, with more than 400,000 subscribers, will give it an 18% share of the ADSL market in Spain. Ya.com offers ADSL TV, video on demand, and unlimited telephony.
