France Telecom SA’s partially-owned Spanish subsidiary Lince Telecomunicaciones has acquired CTV-Jet, one of Spain’s leading web hosting companies and internet service providers (ISP), with headquarters in Valencia. Lince is an association of France Telecom, with 69%, Cableuropa (1%) and Editel (30%), the latter itself a consortium of Spanish companies Banco Santander, Multitel and Ferrovial. It operates domestic and international fixed-line services, as well as fixed-to-mobile calling via a prefix.

The acquisition fits in with France Telecom’s strategy of seeking to offer fixed and mobile telephony, as well as cable and internet services, in all the countries to which it expands. It also has a stake in Danish ISP Web A/S and owns ISPs in Belgium (EuroNet Internet BV) and Italy (ITnet), with each company’s offerings being integrated with those of its telephony ventures in the respective countries. The move by FT follows British Telecommunications Plc’s February acquisition of the country’s largest internet provider, Arrakis.
