Worried by Borland International’s Paradox and Ashton-Tate’s new version of dBase, Fox Software Inc of Perrysburg, Ohio said at Comdex that FoxPro 2.0 will ship before the end of the first quarter of next year, and is going into beta test next month: a Mac version will follow within 90 days, and will have identical features to the MS-DOS version – each version will retail for $800; Fox claims that its new proprietary Rushmore technology, will move FoxPro ahead of its rivals by resulting in a product that can access data twice as fast as dBase; a version of FoxPro for Gindows 3.0 is due late 1991.
