Fox Software Inc is the first company to sign an OEM contract for Novell Inc’s relational database engine designed for NetWare, NetWare SQL. The deal between Fox and Novell includes a technology transfer agreement, whereby Novell and Fox will co develop FoxServer, a database server that will combine NetWare SQL with Fox Software’s dBase language technology. Fox says the agreement will result in it being able to provide server-based relational database management to the dBase language market. While FoxServer will initially support MS-DOS workstations, the companies intend to extend support to other workstation environments, including the Apple Computer Inc Macintosh. Fox Software will exclusively manufacture, market and support FoxServer; it is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 1990.
