FORTE EXTENDS APPLICATION ENVIRONMENT TO IBM S/390

By CBR Staff Writer

As reported (CI No 3,159), Forte Software Inc is working with IBM Corp to extend its Forte Application Environment to IBM’s S/390 Parallel Enterprise Servers (they used to be called mainframes, remember?) Forte customers will be able to deploy Forte-built distributed applications on IBM S/390 servers and to tightly integrate those applications with existing S/390 data and resources. Built on top of OS/390 and using IBM’s Unix 95- compliant development tools and services, Forte’s Open Mainframe Architecture will include native S/390 interfaces for CICS, IMS, DB2 and other S/390 environments; client-side integration for Microsoft, Apple and web clients; and partitioning. The beta version is due in the first half of 1998.
