FORMER STARWAVE EMPLOYEES LAUNCH STARTUP OF THEIR OWN

By CBR Staff Writer

Five ex-employees of the Paul Allen investment vehicle Starwave have launched a web production company of their own, to be called Network Nine Inc. The Seattle, Washington-based start-up will provide internet, intranet and e-commerce web sites to a trio of quintessentially Seattle clients: venture capital firm Vulcan Ventures, coffee company Pure Vida and software giant Microsoft Corp. A casualty of last year’s web merger frenzy, Starwave was the pawn in a complex deal cut between Infoseek Corp and the Walt Disney Co – the same deal that eventually spawned the Go Network (CI No 3,435). Network Nine’s five co-founder say that before they left Starwave, they were involved in several of its highest- profile projects, including ABCNews.com, ESPN.com and Mr Showbiz.
