It did not take former Roaster Technologies chief John Dhabolt long to find something to do following Roaster’s demise in mid- December; he’s gone back into the fold at Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Natural Intelligence Inc, the company from which Roaster was spun out about a year ago. Roaster found it could not survive selling its Java development tool for the Macintosh and could not find sufficient funding to keep going. Dhabolt is looking for buyers for the Roaster 4 Java development tool technology and says he is in close negotiations with two companies he cannot name. He said the product would not be released in a standalone format; it is likely to be broken up and the technology used where necessary by whoever buys it. Dhabolt becomes director of Natural’s newly- formed advanced technology group, with a remit of working with Java and objects, utilizing various object technologies and using Java to make sure the objects can communicate with each other. Natural will not be developing off-the-shelf products, rather individual solutions for clients.
