If all goes to plan 5G phones will be available by around 2020. Phones will support data speeds in excess of 100Mbits. DoCoMo expects that the 5G phones will feature 3D imaging capability and be used for video conferencing or playing 3D games.

With 3G still in its infancy and 4G just a glint in a technician's eye it has emerged that Japanese wireless service provider DoCoMo, trying to stay one step ahead of the competition has begun development of the fifth generation of mobile phones.
