US Asynchronous Transfer Mode video distribution and video conferencing specialist Fore Systems Inc has announced plans to buy the UK-based video and audio development group, Nemesys Research Ltd for 415,000 in shares. The company said the acquisition would extend its product line by adding video networking products to its asynchronous mode product portfolio. The move is in line with an increasing demand for faster data transmission speeds provided by Asynchronous Mode networks in order to facilitate the use of video applications within companies. This trend has been highlighted by recent research from Dell’Oro Group which found that video-based applications such as imaging and multimedia were found to be the primary drivers for the technology by users and resellers.
