The Advertising Standards Board (ASA) conducted an investigation, after two viewers complained that an ad for the Focus Zetec Climate was misleading as it mainly showed the Ford Mondeo, which they said was due to be released in 2007 and appeared in the film ‘Casino Royale’, but ended by showing the Focus Zetec Climate. The viewers said the ad misleadingly implied that the Focus Zetec Climate was used in the film ‘Casino Royale’.
Following the investigation, the ASA found the motor company’s advertisement to be in breach of the advertising code and ruled that Ford’s commercial should not be aired again in its current format.
In response to the complaints, Ford said it felt the ads were not misleading because the name, price and image of the Focus were clearly displayed.
