The facilities management contract won by Cap Gemini Sogeti SA’s US subsidiary Cap Gemini America to handle Total Petroleum Inc’s computing in the US is being hailed in France as a vindication of the company’s strategy: the value of the contract was not disclosed but although Total Petroleum Inc is the US refining and distribution subsidiary of the French petroleum company Total, the deal represents a win for Cap Gemini America because Cap Gemini Sogeti did not intervene in the deal, a CGS spokeswoman told Computergram; the company says the contract is further evidence that the dual structure it put in place in January is working – under it each geographic zone is responsible also for a particular industry, and Cap Gemini America was given responsibility for the petro-chemical industry worldwide.
