Allscripts said its web-hosted platform will enable Floyd’s providers to access clinical information on patients at any point.

It is thought that TouchWorks will initially serve members of the Floyd Primary Care network and residents in the Floyd Family Practice Residency Program.

According to Al Davis, administrator of Floyd Primary Care, said they chose the Electronic Health Record (EHR) for three reasons: First, Allscripts has a proven track record of implementing successful clinical EHRs with similar healthcare organizations. Second, the Allscripts EHR can be deployed one module at a time, providing physicians the functionality they need most when they’re ready for it. And finally, TouchWorks integrates seamlessly with Floyd’s existing Groupcast practice management solution from IDX Systems Corporation, directly linking clinical and financial activities.

The TouchWorks EHR automates physician activities such as prescriptions, ordering lab tests, viewing test results and documenting clinical encounters. It also offers patient safety measures including automated medical practice guidelines and alerts that warn physicians of potentially dangerous drug interactions.
