Floating Point Systems Inc has installed one of the first of its Inmos Transputer-based T 200 supercomputers at the US Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. The $6m, 128-node, machine, with theoretical peak performance of 1.5 GFlops, is the largest T configuration to date, and Los Alamos is rather pleased with its new toy, for use in work on parallel algorithms. We look forward to an exciting experience using the T Series to develop parallel applications for many of the lab’s scientific endeavours, said Research and Applications group leader Ann Hayes.
