The Baggage Handling System will utilise the latest technology as specified by major airport consultant, PCI International and consists of departure and arrival systems each able to handle 4000 passengers per hour. The departure system comprises 140 check-in positions, automated hold baggage screening and two tilt tray sorters. The arrival system consists of seven reclaim units with X-Ray screening facilities.
The new Terminal III, which is being built by Takenaka Corporation (Tokyo) is scheduled to go into operation by the end of 2002.
This contract win brings the total value of orders received for airport baggage systems by FKI Logistex to over US$100m since its formation in November 1999, including orders for complete Baggage Handling Systems for Hanoi, Ben Gurion, Charles de Gaulle, Munich and Charlotte airports.
