By CBR Staff Writer

New York-based Information Builders Inc’s latest EDA/SQL 3.0 middleware is Open Data Base Connectivity and X/Open call-level interface compliant and is up on MVS, Solaris, NT, OS/2, AIX, HP-UX and NCR Unix. It has got a new Hub Server enabling users to access data from a single location, plus services for global directory, single-point authenticity, request routing, data copy management for bringing flat files on to Information Builders’s Focus database, and a data management mechanism for preparing legacy application data for use in new applications. The 3.0 release is divided into eight service modules and is packaged in five different server options – full-function server, stored procedure server, relational server, and the new hub server. There’s also a new DB2 gateway for MVS, transaction servers for IMS and CICS, a host of relational database gateways and a Tandem Computers Inc Guardian-Non-Stop SQL gateway. 3.0 on mainframe servers is from $34,500 to $192,000 and from $3,300 on the desktop servers.
