Five Japanese companies are joining forces to establish a new company that will offer consulting and engineering services in connection with Integrated Services Digital Networking, which is seen as about to take off in Japan – where, don’t let us forget, the whole idea was originally dreamed up: the new company, Infonex Corp, will be jointly owned by Nippon Telegraph & Telephone, which did the dreaming, and came up with the ISDN name; the Logic Systems International data communications start up; Toyota Motor Corp; Nippon Shinpan Co; and Ushio Inc, a fast growing maker of special light bulbs: the new company is capitalised at $5.5m and its first contracts will be to develop data communications systems for Nippon Shinpan, the largest Japanese consumer credit firm, and for Toyota Motor.
